“Live from Columbia!”
Returning from South Africa on “The Easy Truth” Tour, Detroits Apollo Brown and Brooklyns Skyzoo come together to pay homage to WKCR’s “Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show”. This is one of the standout joints from their “Easy Truth” album. The “Stretch and Bob” radio show gave underground emcees an opportunity to kick rhymes and showcase their skill. I remember a young, hungry Eminem killing their show back in the 90’s. Apollo’s simple-yet-effective production perfectly revisits that feeling of when emcee’s visited the show to prove themselves.
I really respect the creativity behind this. Apollo and Skyzoo enlisted a couple of Brooklyn’s finest youngin’s to play their parts in this purposely-grainy-VHS-style video. It’s a youth movement! This is probably one of the doper video/song concepts you’ll see and hear all day, so don’t play yourself and watch it for yourself below:
